The principle behind SALUTE, which stands for S±ð°ù±¹¾±³¦±ðÌýA³¦²¹»å±ð³¾¾±³¦²õÌýL±ð²¹»å±ð°ù²õ³ó¾±±èÌýU²Ô¾±³Ù²âÌýT°ù¾±²ú³Ü³Ù±ðÌýExcellence, is to recognize academic success among our student veterans.
Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits of coursework and earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher and graduate students who have completed 12 credits of graduate work (or the equivalent) and earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply. All applicants must also
Qualify as military or veteran students under locally derived and maintained definitions
Have served or currently be serving in the military, National Guard, or reserves or, if no longer serving, have been honorably discharged from service
Maintain the highest ethical standards
Meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
Served as a One2One mentor for at least the last six months
Posted verifiable feedback on Vessey VRC articles or the social wall at least twice per month
Served as a volunteer consistently over the past six months

Please note: After completing the SALUTE application form, we will request that you send a copy of your DD214 Form in a follow-up e-mail.
Each semester UMGC SALUTE reviews all applications and submits approved applicant packets to national headquarters in bulk within two weeks of the application cut-off dates.
The 25 top-performing applicants are selected for membership and informed via e-mail. If you are not selected for membership the semester that you apply, you will be considered for the subsequent semester.
