3D Scholars

3D Scholars aims to make college education affordable & accessible for local high school students.

Prince George's County Public Schools, Prince George's Community College, and Â鶹ÐÔ°®µçÓ° of Maryland Global Campus are offering an affordable, definitive pathway to a bachelor’s degree for students in Prince George’s County, beginning with dual enrollment in high school.

Through the county's specialized 3D Scholars Program, Prince George's County public high school students can earn a bachelor's degree at UMGC for a total cost of less than $10,000.

Eligibility

To apply for the 3D Scholars program, you must:

  1. Be enrolled in the 10th grade at a Prince George's County public high school
  2. Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  3. Meet the program's score requirements for at least one college preparatory exam (Accuplacer, SAT®1, or ACT)
  4. Complete the application form, including a 500-word essay, and provide two teacher recommendations to your counselor by the application deadline

The program accepts 25 students per year.

About the Program

If you are accepted into the 3D Scholars program, you’ll begin taking courses at PGCC while still in high school, earning credits toward an associate’s degree. After you graduate from high school, you will immediately transition to PGCC to complete your associate’s degree. Upon completion, you’ll be awarded a scholarship to UMGC to earn your bachelor's degree for a total cost of less than $10,000.

At UMGC, you can select one of three bachelor's degrees:

An advisor at each institution will work with you to provide individual guidance through the program to ensure a seamless transition from high school to PGCC, and from PGCC to UMGC.
