The Importance of Open Educational Resources

Research shows that students learn better when they're able to access all their materials directly in their online courses. In addition, we wanted to remove the barrier that expensive textbooks can present. To date, we've replaced nearly every textbook for undergraduate courses with no-cost online resources and we plan to replace nearly every graduate textbook too.

Our progress toward open educational resources was made possible in part by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
